Grey Lite Theatre presents
"Funny Money" By Ray Cooney Directed by Pat Arthur Director's Notes This is the third consecutive play by playwright Ray Cooney that I have done for the Grey Lite Theatre. He has, without a doubt, found the right formula for an evening of double entendre, naughty innuendoes and tight turns. They are never anything less than technical nightmares that lead to laughter and fun. I especially appreciate that they are usually written for a more mature cast, which is unusual in today's market. This particular cast brings to the production many years of experience, with the exception of Jason of course, who has been a delight to work with. I realize that he is laboring under the watchful eye of his grandmother, but we have all enjoyed having his with us. As usual, I have nothing but a deep sense of gratitude for the commitment it takes on everyone's part to make any show a success. Thanks are also in order to the Grey Lite Board members and to Jim Hodgin for his work on the set. Funny Money can be seen in Angola on April 19, 1997. Contact the Steuben County Literacy Alliance for tickets. Pat Arthur, Director CAST Caryl Ball (JEAN PERKINS)-Caryl has appeared in several productions at Grey Lite Theatre, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the Black Forest, Guys and Dolls, Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain and Here's Love. She's very active behind the scenes, too. When not involved with the theatre, she is busy working as a resource teacher at South Wayne Elementary and being a mom. Many thanks to Meredith, Mike, Jill and Steve for putting up with my theater time. Ben Kizer (VIC JOHNSON)-Ben and his wife, Pam, live south of Bluffton where they collect Christmas decorations and take care of their spoiled parakeet, Baskerville. Ben has appeared in several productions at the Pulse Opera House in Warren, Indiana, and most recently at First Presbyterian Theatre in The Foreigner. Grey Lite audiences have enjoyed his performances in Run for Your Wife and Here's Love. Scott Nedberg (HENRY PERKINS)-Scott continues his busy theatre schedule after having appeared in Here's Love and Play It Again, Sam at Grey Lite this season. Scott also appeared as Charlie Baker in First Presbyterian's production of The Foreigner. When he is not on stage, Scott is Director of Operations at Custom Tube Co. in Fort Wayne. He says his love for theatre is only surpassed by his love for his daughter Erin, his son Mike, his granddaughter Maddy, and "Toad" Steve Pearson (SLATER)-Steve has been promoted from Murray in The Odd Couple at Arena to Detective Slater of Putney C.I.D. and he only had to go 'cross town. Steve has been part of many shows at Grey Lite, and most recently directed Play It Again, Sam. In his "real" life, he teaches English and is Drama Director at Carroll High School. Steve also played Ellard in The Foreigner at First Presbyterian last October. Dorothy Rioux (BETTY JOHNSON) Dorothy is a veteran of many community theatre productions in Fort Wayne. She was last seen at Grey Lite in The Cemetery Club and more recently at Arena Theatre in Arsenic and Old Lace. Dorothy is the proud mother of eight children and ten grandchildren, one of whom is ... Jason Zorger (BILL)- Jason is a junior at Bishop Dwenger High School where he plays football and baseball. Jason studies voice and sings in the choir at St. Vincent's Catholic Church. This is Jason's first community theatre production. Bishop Dwenger has enjoyed his talents in Cotton Patch Gospel, Two-By-Two and The Case of Two Detectives. Jason has an older brother at IU and a younger sister Jenny who is in the 8th grade at St. Vincent's school. Art Ruddle (DAVENPORT)-This is Art's third Grey Lite Theatre production this year. He was last seen as the D.A. in Here's Love and the "polished" butler, Franz, in The Sound of Music. Art lists some of his favorite performances as those in Don't Drink the Water, The Fantastiks, Diary of Anne Frank, Arsenic and Old Lace and The Ninety-Day Mistress. Michael Skiver (A PASSER-BY)-Michael returns to Grey Lite for the first time this season. He has previously appeared as Werner/Luther/Big Six/Studio Cop (you had to be there) in City of Angels, Father Jack in Dancing at Lughnasa, A Mid-Summer Night's Dream and the latest run of The Odd Couple at Arena Theatre. In real life, Michael is a Graphic Designer/Screen Print Technician in Huntington. Maggie Sheppard (Stage Manager)-Maggie returns to the backstage arena at Grey Lite as Director Pat Arthur's "right arm." Maggie can rightfully boast of many years of theatre experience, most of which have been in that most critical area that helps to produce what the audience sees. "As the director," says Pat, "I see my responsibility as the big picture. Maggie puts the details in the right place, at the right time that makes it all happen. She just makes my lob a whole lot easier." TIME AND PLACE The action of the play, which is continuous, takes place in the Fulham house of Henry and Jean Perkins, during a fall evening. This production of "Funny Money" was performed April 19, 1997, at the 101 Lounge in Angola, Indiana, to benefit the Steuben County Literacy Coalition IN LOVING MEMORY OF
